Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #4 Slink HangsPosted By: Dave Thomas <thomasdr@u...> I've been experiencing problems with my slinke and was wondering if others were seeing the same problem. The problem I have only occurs when I'm running the slinkeserv application or my application built from the C++ library provided on this website. I use the slinke to "echo" commands from an IR input configured with active high polarity to the IR transmitter. The slinke echoes the commmands to the IR blaster and I can control the equipment fine for a while. Eventually (probably 1 out 10 to 1 out of 100 echoes) the slinke will hang and no longer responds to input on the IR input port. This is evident from the fact that the equipment controlled by the echoed IR no longer responds and the orange light no longer activates when the IR input goes active. The "IR input" I'm referring to is actually control-S from my Sony TV, not a signal from the IR receiver on the slinke hardware. The "hang" can be cleared several ways. If you unplug slinke's power and replug
I've exchanged several notes with Colby describing my symptoms and he's suggested many things to try but so far we've had no success. I'm not sure he's even able to duplicate the problem. I've tried totally isolating the single input via an opto-isolater, and reduced the many inputs I originally had to a single input to duplicate the problem in as simple a configuration as possible. I'd really like to get the problem solved, since I've already invested a lot of time writing my application for the slinke and it serves as a central "hub" for my whole house IR control. Everything works great, but due to the frequent hangs the whole thing is basically useless. If others are experiencing similar problems, maybe we can convince Colby to go after the problem in earnest. Dave Thomas
