Dual player problems

My slink-e is connected to my two players by a single cable.
The CDP-CX90ES is the master, set to player 2, and the CDP-CX70ES
is the slave, set to player 3.
The players are ID'ed correctly by the CDDJ software, but playlists
skip the tracks on the slave player, and when I try to upload disc
text for disks on the slave machine, it over-writes the same disk
numbers on the master machine.
Any hints?
