2 Identical Discs

Through a fluke, I had two identical discs in two separate players (one from a previous single purchase, the second from a collection). When identifying discs, CDJ will make lots of passes (50-60 before I cancel) on the second disc. Is this by design or does it just not know what to do with the second disc? I realize this should not be a common problem but as people add more players, and the recent publication of complete works, it is possible someone else might encounter the problem.
