I am in the same boat as you. I am trying to do the same thing. My understanding from the DCOM documents is that win98 is DCOM ready. Go to the MS web site (www.microsoft.com/com/) there is a ton of info. In particular lookat:

I am about to change from netbeui to tcp/ip on the house network. I think That is required.
