Sony DSS Problems

I ordered the service manual for the DSS-A4 to help figure out the low speed data port. In the meantime, I am experiencing the same problems as Peter, Jon and Matt, except I am using IR instead of Slink. I created a device file using CDJ which includes the Sonyir file. The power, #1-#9 and menu commands work but others such as guide, index and cursur keys do not. If I test the device file with CDJ all of the commands are recognized. If I use IRDemo I can capture and playback all commands. Any ideas on this?
