Could it be that you have one of the group files selected? Please read the text below regarding this that I just wrote to someone today.
... Today I discovered something though: you can't have any of the group file selections on while using CDJ. If you do, attempts to play discs outside the group will result in no_disc responses indentical to the case if there was no disc. Is it possible that this was the source of you problems? I've made some changes to CDJ today to take the player out of this mode at startup. There is no way I know of to tell that the player is in the group mode though - somebody could put it in this mode after CDJ starts and it wouldn't know.
