I got the impression from the help files that any command that comes in over one of the IR receivers can be set up to automatically be sent out over up to 8 IR transmitters. Wouldn't this allow someone to control eqipment inside a cabinet?

Were talking about a Slink-e 1.0 here. The 2.0 certainly can do this. You can set it up in SlinkeServ. After it is set up and written to EEPROM, you don't need any software for this feature.
