cdj playlist skipping

i have been working with cdj and must say it is an excellent product. my only problem so far is using the playlist function. i create the list and start play and it does okay at first and then after a song it will skip the next selection, but will stop and play the next song in the list, then it will play that song and upon finishing may skip a couple of songs and places ? marks in the cd number and they can no longer be accessed. eventually, it quits playing all the songs with all having ? marks.
let me know what i am doing wrong.
