No, its done using the via IR emulation over the S-link connection (I made this mistake first time and then re-read Colby's original message. My changer is in a different room from the computer, so you can imagine the scene, IR cable strewn between the computer and the other room (much to the amusement of my partner)...).

I doubt this makes any difference, but to get it to work I set the player ID to 1, plugged into S-link port 0, powered up and started up the software.
