Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #2 Re: Adding CX270 support to CDJPosted By: Dave Willis <dlwillis@w...> In Response To: Adding CX270 support to CDJ (Colby Boles)
Colby, I have a couple of suggestions for you to try. Although I have a CX90ES, I think it has identical text capabilities to the CX270 since both units have the same users manual. First, you don't have to load the disc to transfer the text. To use your example (DISC 2 3 ENTER), send the remote code for INPUT instead of ENTER (i.e., DISC 2 3 INPUT). ENTER will cause the disc to be loaded, whereas INPUT will place the player in "MEMO INPUT" mode. This is actually displayed at the top of the "page" if the video output of the player is hooked to a TV. The following is the order in which the text data needs to be sent for a particular disc: Disc Title
There is a maximum of 16 characters for each data field. There appears to be a maximum of 16 track titles per disc. Since both the CX270 and CX90ES support keyboard input, I am wondering if the text data can be transfered on s-link using ascii codes rather than IR remote codes. The input of text involves sending a numeric key code 1, 2 or 3 (or multiple times for the 1 key, if in CAPS or LOWERCASE text entry mode) times, followed by the ENTER key code. There are one or more characters assigned to each numeric key on the remote, as follows: 1 = !"#$%&'()*+,-./:;<=>?@[\]^_`{|}~B (where the last B is a space)
The DISC/CAPS key is used to toggle between CAPS, LOWERCASE, NUMERIC input modes, in that order. For CAPS and LOWERCASE input modes, the 1 key toggles successively through the characters Iv'e shown. For example, sending the IR remote codes for 1 1 1 should select a # character. When in NUMERIC input mode, sending IR remote codes for any of the numeric keys will transfer the number character that the remote key represents ( i.e., a 1 for a 1, 2 for a 2, etc.). I don't know if you can query what input mode the player is in. Here are a few more rules for using the IR remote to enter text: After selecting the character using the above rules, send the IR remote code for ENTER to advance to the next character location. Sending ENTER twice in a row will enter that character and advance to the next data field. You can also move to the next data field by sending the IR remote code for the DOWN ARROW key (this will enter the last selected character), rather than sending ENTER twice. After advancing to the next data field, you have to send ENTER one or more times to switch to the text entry mode, as follows: For the Artist Name field, send ENTER twice. The first ENTER causes:
For the Track field, send ENTER once to switch to the text entry mode. The Group field seems to be a special case. After sending the first ENTRY, a GROUP SELECT mode is entered. Sending the IR remote code for the RIGHT ARROW key, advances the Group to the next Group number for each RIGHT ARROW that is sent. There are 8 Groups. If no group names have been previously entered, the RIGHT ARROW keypushes cycle from 'GROUP 1' consecutively through 'GROUP 8'. If a group name has been entered for a particular group number, that group name is displayed flashing on the player and not flashing on the TV. After the Group number has been selected in this m Responses To This Message
