Colby,
The Digital Director web page had a link to a review of the unit by Home Theater Magazine (see the link below). The review claims that the inputs are prioritized, with input 1 having the highest priority and input 6 has the lowest. The review would lead me to believe that the newest active input would automatically switch in if the inputs with higher priority are inactive.
