I think it's a matter of taste. I prefer my searches to broad rather than narrow, so that I always find what I'm looking for without having to get the query exactly right. I think what really needs to be added is another type of comparison which matches whole words. I'll think about it. Note that currently the == comparison requires that the WHOLE FIELD match your value exactly, e.g. you would get no match for "elvis presley" using artist==elvis.
