The problem I ran into with 260's is that they go into this master/slave mode which takes away your fade capability if you put 3 players on a single sline. A seperate mixer solves this very nicely But I never thought of what Colby is doing.. makes sense assuming the improved specs etc don't also improve the digital output capability. Assuming the players aren't interpolating for read errors, bits should be bits. If your DAC resamples the data, or uses a good PLL and buffer, clock jitter should be a minor issue as well. From the schematics and insides of the Sony changers that I've seen, there were no differences mechanically or in the digital sections which indicate a digital out performance difference in the models. The differences lie in the oversampling filter, DAC and analog audio sections. Colby, I'm also interested in your switch.. But how about 12 digital inputs so that the switch could support an entire Slink-e's worth of outputs ? Well basically I'm thinking of supporting 16 inputs total, I just have to think about the board layout and packaging. The idea was to have 8 TOSLINK inputs board mounted with 8 RCA jacks above them. You would only buy the inputs you want and the rest would be left blank. TOSLINK inputs would be much cheaper since the don't require a signal transformer, unless the user opted for transformerless inputs (another option). How many players do you have anyway? The selectors would be addressable and cascadeable so you could easily buy 9 of them and have 64 inputs. You could be my favorite customer that way. Colby Responses To This Message
