Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #2 Re: Problems with in place text editing in Album ViewPosted By: Dave Willis <dlwillis@w...> In Response To: Problems with in place text editing in Album View (Dave Willis)
Colby, The problem with editing text also exists in the new CDJ version (11-17-98).
(Slot/Location) (player icon) Artist Album P2 D037 Steve Winwood Back In The High Life After editing the Artist field to switch the first and last names around, the CDJ library window dislpays this data as follows: (Slot/Location) (player icon) Artist Album Winwood, Steve Winwood, Steve Back In The High Life The "P2 D037" is overwritten right after making the change in the Artist field and then hitting the ENTER key, or making the change in the Artist Field and clicking the mouse pointer anywhere else on the screen, other than the Artist field that was modified. The "P2 D037" can be retrieved in the display by moving the "Slot/Location" column to a different location. If "Save Library" is selected on the menu, CDJ goes through the motions of making the save (pop-up window appears, indicating the save is being executed). However, exiting and restarting CDJ will show that the text edit was not saved, since the display of the example text record returns to the original format: (Slot/Location) (player icon) Artist Album P2 D037 Steve Winwood Back In The High Life The Save Library function does work however, after downloading new disc data from CDDB. The other aspect of the problem is that it manifests itself on the Album field also, as the following example shows: (Slot/Location) (player icon) Artist Album P2 D036 Wings Wing's Greatest After adding "Hits" to the Album field, CDJ displays the following: (Slot/Location) (player icon) Artist Album P2 D036 Wings Greatest Hits Wing's Greatest Hits After performing the Save Library function, exiting and restarting CDJ, the above data record is displayed as follows: (Slot/Location) (player icon) Artist Album P2 D036 Wing's Greatest Hits Wing's Greatest Suprisingly, the change was saved where it was not intended (Artist field), but was not saved were the change was actually inserted (Album field). Also note that the problem described above manifests itself in the same way when entering Artist and Album text in the new record created in the library after CDDB doesn't find any data after a Disc Search. Thanks,
