Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #2 S/P-DIF Interface (internally) on CD players?Posted By: Jon Welfringer <Welfringer@a...> S/P-DIF is the Sony/Phillips-Digital Interchange Format.
Most PC CDROM drives also have this interface but generally don't use it. The SPDIF interface is a 2 pin TTL digital output. I have recently come across a very easy way to add the optical output circuit to this 2 pin connection. Has anyone opened up one of their Sony CDPCX200/205 or similar units? Do you know if internally there is any SPDIF connection? Since these players only output analog, somewhere before the DAC, there must be a place to attach to the SPDIF signal. If so, adding an optical output to these players would be simple and cheap. I just wanted to know if anyone has opened one of these players or has knowledge of the SPDIF interface - before I go tear into my player. If anyone is interested in how to create the optical interface for your cdrom drives, I can post the url's for the info I found. If it does turn out that the CDPCX200 can be modified to add the optical output, I will document it and post for those interested. Responses To This Message
