I kind of figured that is the way it is done. As far as thier position on database access goes, one might infer that it is OK because they do povide links to other CD players that do it.
In case anyone is interested, I have written an ActiveX control for Visual Basic that accesses the CDDB database. I will probably be adding lyrics support in the next couple of days. It is freeware and the source is available.
