My experience has been that Control-S is a unidirectional protocol, but it is conceivable that it could be made to work bidirectionally in some Sony equipment. Control-S is basically a wired version of the IR signals sent by Sony remotes. The waveforms are identical, only the carrier has been removed. In fact to send out Control-S on the Slink-e, one simply takes a Sony IR type device file and sets the carrier to 0.
If not, will the Control-S port on the slink-e recieve commands from the control-s
as well as send commands to it?
Yes, the Slink-e has 8 general purpose "IR" ports for receiving and transmitting data. If you wanted to receive Control-S data, you would just need to make up and additional 1/8" jack connector which connected to one of the IRRX ports. You would also want to reverse the input polarity of this port in the Slink-e settings using slinkeserv. This is because Control-S is "active-high" instead of "active-low" like the standard IR receiver modules I supply.
