Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #11 Re: Accessing COM Port on Remote Computer?Posted By: Mark Myers <mmyers@d...> In Response To: Re: Accessing COM Port on Remote Computer? (Bill D'Innocenzo)
I am using VNC to control the remote computers for everything other than CDJ. The Slinke is connected to a dedicated home automation computer in my wiring closet. I prefer not to sit in the closet to run that computer. So, 1) I use dcom to run cdj on my main computer and control the slinke on the home automation computer. I prefer this to remote computer control because remote control involves slower screen updates and slower mouse response, etc. 2) I use VNC to do all other work on the home home automation computer. The slower screen updates, etc. are offset by the comfort of the chair at my main computer. Cheers!
