Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #11 Re: IR modular jack wiring layoutPosted By: Sky <gyroplane@h...> In Response To: Re: IR modular jack wiring layout (Colby Boles)
Colby - The built-in IR jack uses +12V, but the 25-pin connector has +9V and +5V. I assume that the regulated +5V is used for the IR devices on the expansion board. If this is true, three questions come to mind: 1) Is the IR receiver that came with the slink-e any different than those that ship as "additionals" in order to accomodate the different voltages? 2) Likewise, should I be concerned about plugging IR transmitters in to the built-in jack, or will they accomodate both +5V and +12V? 3) Will the built-in jack work better for longer runs that the expansion jacks? 4) Out of curiosity, why was this done? Off-hand, it would seem that uniformity between jacks would be desireable. Thanks for a great product, and unrivaled support, -Sky
