Pioneer Elite "SR" link

I have a pioneer elite tv which has an "SR" in/out on the back. It looks like a control-s and seems to be Pioneer's version of wired control between devices.
Has anyone used the Slink-e to control Pioneer products using this link? I am wondering if I should just plug it in and see what happens, or how to tap it. The pioneer web site offers no help.
