How about the ability to have multiple playlists and search lists. If you added the ability to map a playlist to one or more players you could play one playlist in one part of the house and a different playlist in another part of the house. If a player were mapped to more than one playlist, then that player would have to be scheduled.
All of this would preclude 100% optimization but with a significant number of players, it would probably work pretty well.
