Flow control in the maps syntax

Is there any kind of flow control available when building a maps macro? I'd like to be able to do things like query the state of the amp and perform actions based on the current setup. Also... If I need to perform an operation more than once (say Vol+), is there any kind of loop construct that will let me do that or do I have to list out the command as many times as needed.
