If you consider all the features you get with the slink-e, compared to buying those components separately...it's a great deal.

I use mine to control a sony cd player (original purpose), playing mp3 (using digital sound card out) with cdj changing the source on my sony amp using slink, and with a cm11a for ir control, and i'm working on automating mp3 album generation from the cdchanger (using a toslink IN soundcard) and transferring the mp3 as albums to cdj...

All this for $250....definately worth it! Add to that the great support, this forum for sharing of ideas, multi-zone IR routing, and the regular software updates, you can't go wrong. I was hesitant at first (and i paid the lower $199 price), but I haven't had a single regret yet. I didn't even know about the power of the ir mapping/routing when I bought it.
