trouble with IR codes

I'm trying to set up a *.cde file that will control my Carver CT-28v preamp. I've got the CDJ buttons generating (thru my Slinke-1) IR codes that the Slinke and CDJ decode into the same commands in the S-link viewer as those that the remote control puts out - but CDJ/Slinke generated IR codes still won't control the preamp - ???

I'm thinking that there must be something strange going on in the start or stop pulses for the commands. The remote control alternates initial code sequences between 01 and 000 - always followed by the unique 8 bit command codes.

I was thinking of trying to attach a scope to look at the pulses - is there somewhere on the Slinke-1 that I could see the demodulated pulses?

The remote uses a Mitsubishi M34230M4FP chip. Does that tell anyone anything?
