Re: Automatic cover-images

I've looked quite a bit, and I've learned a few things, espeically about CD Now. The images are in different directories, and do not have any correlation to CD UPC's or anything else I could find (most tellingly, when the graphics are in the /MC/ directory, sequential numbers are an from a single group).

That means that if a program's going to snag images, it needs to actually look like a "real" client, and do the queries and all. That's not too difficult. Then, it just needs the logic to pluck the image off the page.

I'm finally getting started on an ActiveX component that should be able to return an image, given an artist/title combination, by doing real queries against CDNow. I'll keep the BBS (and Colby) posted.

Interestingly, not all the images on CD Now are the same size. Ones with the .50.32.gif extension are 170x170, while /MC/* ones are 184x183. Additionally, if there's a .50.32.gif version, there's also a .100.64.gif version (looks like it's probably 340x340, though I haven't checked it).
