Yes, I have the IR transmitter plugged in via the 1/8" mono plug cable. The mono plug cable was shipped together with Slinke. And I point the transmitter to the receiver during the test.

The light was flashing but not continuously like the case when I held down a remote control button. The light flashes every 1/2 second to 1 second during the loop test.
