Re: 200 disc player life span

I've had a CX270 and CX200 pair since May of 1997, and while I do not perhaps run them as often as some others (maybe 3-4 times out of a week), I do tend to leave them running for long periods of time (3 hours +) when I do run them. They've also been through a move 9 months ago in which I (stupidly) left all the CD's in the players, only to find they had shaken out of their slots and gone to all sorts of interesting places in the player after the move. I was able to extract all the CD's and return them to their slots, but in some cases this was a physical task that no doubt induced extra wear on the CD mechanism.

I have not yet experienced any problems with these players. I don't know if this is typical, though.
