lowlevel:ir[num num ...] not working with OCX

I am trying the following using the 9/8/98 version of the OCX & VB6:

devfile = App.Path + "\lowlevel.cde"
x = Slinkx.AddDevice("lowlevel", devfile, devID, slinkenum, 0)
x = Slinkx.SendEx("lowlevel:baud[38400] lowlevel:irmml[11] lowlevel:irto[100000.0] lowlevel:irts[100.0] ")

x = Slinkx.SendEx("lowlevel:carrier[36000] lowlevel:irtxports[1] lowlevel:ir[10000 -10000 10000 -10000 10000 -10000]")

The code above results in absolutely no output from the IR port 0. Any ideas?
