Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #1 Re: Understanding S-Link CommunicationPosted By: James Miller <jamesmil_ms@h...> In Response To: Re: Understanding S-Link Communication (Colby Boles)
Hmm. Perhaps there is something wrong with my SLink-e. Here is the exact steps I followeed, and the results: 1. Plugged a mono-headphone cable (inlcuded with the unit) into the S-Link jack on my DVD player, and into the S-Link Port 0 on the Slink-e 2. Plugged the serial cable into my portable. 3. Powered up both the Slink-e and my portable. 4. Launched CDJ and selected my SLink-e listed on COM1 (19.2Kbps) 5. Added a device called "sls" with the device file "sls.cde" to port S-Link 0 6. Opened the Slink-e viewer and typed "sls:test[**0F]" and selected Iterate Wildcards. 7. When I press Send, a message comes back saying "Trouble with Slink-e 0", and pressing Retry there causes CDJ to say no SLink-es were found. I have to cycle the power on the Slink-e for it to be recognized again. Other notes: - Bought the Slink-e preassembled - As soon as I plug in the cable to the slink ports, the light on the back of the unit goes Orange. - No messages ever appear in the slink-e viewier window, execpt the initial "starting" line, even if I manually adjust settings on the player (with the front panel buttons) - Same thing happens when connected to my TV (KV-27V36). - I have been able to successfully use the IR functions on the device. (my cd-changer hasn't arrived yet so I can't test the native functions of CDJ) Any ideas? Thanks for your help. -james Responses To This Message
