Can I send commands to the S-Linke parallel from CDJ?

Can I directly manipulate the S-Linke parallel port via the CDJ events? I guess I can associate a device file with a particular I/O pin on the parallel port (via the "Connect to These Ports" option), and send an IR style command to it that way. What I'd like to do, though, is set a particular line to an output line, and pull it high on the CDJ "Startup" event and then low on the CDJ "Shutdown" event. This would let me control a relay which connects or disconnects the direct S-Link connection between my CX270 player and CX200 player based on whether CDJ is running or not.

I've found when the CX270 is on the same S-Link bus as the CX200, it sends commands out that interfere with CDJ cross fading and disc pre-queueing, even though it is not doing the controlling in this case. I figure with this method, I could "cut the direct link" between the two players only when CDJ is running. Thus, I could still use the two players in stand-alone mode (no computer) with the CX270 as the master and the CX200 as slave, but have each on its own dedicated S-Link bus when CDJ is running.

I can see how the native S-Linke protocol would allow this, and in fact the description of the parallel port on the S-Linke implies this type of use is an intended way to use it (e.g. using pins to drive solid-state relays). However, after reading through the example code and looking through the S-Linke device code, I get the impression the only interface it allows to the parallel port via the "device language" is as additional IR ports with messages sent as pulses at some modulation frequency. Is there any way I can directly toggle pin states?

Thanks for any response! - Dan Butterfield (dan@butterfields.net)
